今回は、「～すればただちに」「早急に」「できる限り早く」といった時間的に制限を設けている表現を紹介します。一般的な英文でもよく使われますので、比較的理解しやすいですね。
【例文】
① Either party shall have the right to immediately terminate this Agreement if the other party commits any breach of this Agreement or fails to perform any of its obligations hereunder.
② Promptly after the organization and registration of New Company, ABC shall enter into a Development Agreement with New Company.
③ As soon as possible after the effective date of this Joint Venture Agreement, the parties hereto shall cause New Company to be organized and registered under the laws of Japan.
【訳文例】
①いずれの当事者も、他方当時者かが本契約に違反した場合または本契約に基づく義務を履行しない場合、本契約を即時解除する権利を有する。
②新会社の設立登記後ただちに、ABCは新会社と開発契約を締結する。
③本合弁契約の発効後、できるだけ速く、本契約当事者は日本法に基づき新会社を設立し、登記する。

“immediately”は「ただちに」、”promptly”も「ただちに、早急に」の意味です。”as soon as possible”「できるだけ速く」は中学校で学んだ代表的な表現ですね。他にはあまり見慣れない表現として”forthwith”「ただちに」、”without delay”「遅滞なく」、”without undue delay”「合理的期間内に」などがあります。
ちなみに、日本の法律用語では、「ただちに」が時間的制限が最も短く（最も緊急を要する事態、今すぐ！）、次に「速やかに」（できるだけ速い対応をすべき状態）、最も時間的制限が緩いのが「遅滞なく」（正当な理由があれば遅滞しても許される状態）とされています。
