今回は一般的に聞きなれない表現を紹介します。”at one’s descretion”とは「自由裁量により」つまり「独自の・単独の判断で」行為が可能になることを意味します。自分の判断で物事を行うことができる、ということですね。”for one’s convenience”は、「便宜上」「自分の都合のようように」という意味になります。いずれも「自由裁量」つまり自分の判断で行えることを指しています。
【例文】
① If any Products or any parts thereof are found not to meet the specifications, Manufacturer shall , at its discretion, repair such Products or any Parts thereof or replace the same with other Products or parts to meet with the specifications.
② ABC may for its convenience immediately terminate this Agreement of any one of the following events occurs.
【訳文例】
① 製品またはその部品が仕様に適合しないことが判明した場合、製造者は自由裁量によりその製品もしくはその部品を修理するか、または仕様に適合する他の製品もしくは部品と交換する。
② ABCは、以下に記載の事由が生じた場合、自由裁量により、本契約をただちに解除することができる。

「自由裁量」という訳語がやや難しい表現ですが、契約において「相手側の承諾なしに自分で判断して行動できる」という決め事は極めて重要です。交渉の鍵を握る表現とも言えるでしょう。
